A Healthy Hummus Alternative

Is hummus Paleo?
Traditional hummus isn’t paleo because it is made from mashed up chickpeas, however, I’ve spent a couple of days thinking about how I could get around this and have found that cauliflower is a far tastier alternative! This recipe couldn’t be easier and is great for snacking on the go.


1/2 head cauliflower
4 tbsp tahini
1/4 lemon juiced
1 clove of garlic – crushed
1/2 tsp cumin
Pinch cayenne pepper
4 tbsp olive oil
1 tbsp water

Salt & pepper to taste


  1. Boil the cauliflower for 5 minutes. Remove from the heat, strain and cool with cold water.
  2. Blend the cauliflower until rice like.
  3. Add the remainder of the ingredients and blend for 5-10 minutes, until the mixture has reached your desired consistency.
  4. Serve with some raw vegetables and enjoy.
