My Mum has made endless batches of this sauce every summer for as long as I can remember! It is insanely delicious and can go on absolutely everything! Believe me I’ve tried!!
This recipe is Gluten Free, Dairy Free, Paleo & Whole30 Approved.
3 tbsp olive oil
2 cloves of garlic, crushed
1 white onion, finely diced
400g can chopped tomatoes
140g tin tomato puree
3 tbsp honey (omit for whole30)
2 tbsp of red wine vinegar
1 tsp chili powder
1 tsp mustard
Method:
- In a large sauce pan add the oil and allow to heat. Sweat down the onions with the garlic for 3-5 minutes until soft.
- Add the rest of the ingredients, bring to the boil and simmer for roughly 15 minutes until thickened.
- Its really that simple! Cool and keep in the fridge for up to a week…. if it lasts that long!!
