Mum’s BBQ Sauce

My Mum has made endless batches of this sauce every summer for as long as I can remember! It is insanely delicious and can go on absolutely everything! Believe me I’ve tried!!


This recipe is Gluten Free, Dairy Free, Paleo & Whole30 Approved.

3 tbsp olive oil
2 cloves of garlic, crushed
1 white onion, finely diced
400g can chopped tomatoes
140g tin tomato puree
3 tbsp honey (omit for whole30)
2 tbsp of red wine vinegar
1 tsp chili powder
1 tsp mustard


  1. In a large sauce pan add the oil and allow to heat. Sweat down the onions with the garlic for 3-5 minutes until soft.bbq
  2. Add the rest of the ingredients, bring to the boil and simmer for roughly 15 minutes until thickened.bbq2
  3. Its really that simple! Cool and keep in the fridge for up to a week…. if it lasts that long!!bbq3
