Twisty Sweet Potato Fries

Feeling like something a little bit bold over the weekend? I have the perfect solution to curb your cravings! My Twisty Sweet Potato Fries are sinlessly indulgent and take next to no time to prepare! Impress your friends with this clean alternative to fast-food!

This recipe is Gluten-Free, Dairy-Free, Vegan, Paleo & Whole 30 Approved.

1 large sweet potato or 2 small
2 tbsp of your chosen oil
1/2 tsp coarse salt
1/2 tsp smoked paprika.

Method:

  1. Preheat your oven to 220°c/428°F.
  2. Wash the sweet potato and chop off the ends, leaving the skin on, and sprialise.
  3.  Lay out the sweet potato on a baking tray and toss it in your chosen oil, coconut and olive work equally well.

  4. Bake in the oven on a high rack for 10 minutes, remove from the oven toss and bake for a further 8-10 minutes until golden and crispy!

  5. Scatter with some coarse salt and smoked paprika before digging in!

  1. Love the look of these but how did you get to ‘spiralise’ them? Is there a particular implement to use?
    Was going to cut them into chips but the curly look is more impressive. Any tips?

    • Hi Conor,
      Yes unfortunately you do need a spiralizer, I have a lurch spirali that I got on Amazon which works a treat!
      Failing that you could try julienning them and have string fries instead which I’m sure would taste just as good!
      If you’re not in the mood for all of that chopping there is a fab julienne peeler that OXO do which I find really good – I got mine from Sweeney & O’Rourke’s on Pearse Street which will have then done in no time! Best of luck with the recipe – let me know how you get on! Nicola.
